At AGORA Jewels, we are silver jewelry enthusiasts. Before we created our online jewelry store, we were consumers seeking elegant pieces for various occasions without worrying about our safety. And then it hit us! Why not create our very own jewelry store and sell quality pieces online? And so, we did. We did our research (never stop doing so) and put together an amazing silver jewelry collection for kids and adults. That’s how it all started!

How did we come up with the AGORA Jewels name?

The name of our jewelry store, AGORA, is not common. But it goes back a few centuries. If you are curious, travel with us.

In ancient Greece, agora was a public space where men assembled to discuss politics, philosophy, legal matters, and social issues. The word agora is derived from the Greek verb “ageiro”, which means “to gather together”. The word is often associated with the Greek verb “agorevo”, which means “give speech” – hence, explaining the social gatherings.

While the agora started as social and political gatherings, it gradually became a marketplace too. With trading added to the activities, the prevailing definition of the word agora over the centuries became “buying things”, coming from the Greek verb “agorazo”. In modern Greek, “going to agora” means “going shopping”.

We found the evolution and overall meaning of the word agora interesting and decided to baptize our online jewelry store AGORA.
